Souvenir Friday- Pendleton At Disneyland

One of my favorite shops is the Pendleton Woolen Mills exhibit in Frontierland. I love the look of Pendleton shirts, especially the vintage 1940s to 1960s shirts as well as their Indian and National Park blankets. Over the years I have picked up any Disneyland related items and non-Disneyland related Pendleton items such as signs and boxes. The first brochure is a vintage 1950s listing sportswear for her, all made by Pendleton. Inside is a little history of the Pendleton Woolen Mills company and their Disneyland store.

This is a small folder from the 1990s before the Pendleton exhibit closed. I picked this up myself during that time period.

National Pavilions- Brussels World's Fair 1958

Some more images of some of the National Pavilions at the Brussels World's Fair of 1958. First up is the Israel Pavilion in a modern style. This slide was bright red so I color corrected as well as I could.

Next up is the pavilion for Switzerland. I really like the roof line and the entrance.

Thailand is up next, the building looks like a model until you look in the background and see the visitors sitting on benches.

Final image is a fantastic building with glass and steel, bringing the outdoors in. I would love to live in this building. In front of the building are various ancient idols. The country is Nicaragua which is unusual participant at a World's Fair.

Things From the Gate- Greatest Construction Show On Earth

Only Disneyland would advertise a major construction zone that closed a large part of the park as an attraction. This gate flyer was given out in early 1959 advertising the coming attractions.

Merry Christmas From Walt Disney Productions 1944

One of my favorite Walt Disney Productions Christmas Card is the 1944 version featuring the Three Cabellero's. Fantastic Mary Blair kids on the front cover and a 1945 calender filled with some of my favorite characters and film segments.

Two nice Mary Blair Christmas items for souvenir Friday. First up is a nice calendar order form from Meadow Gold dairies from 1953. I love her take on Rudolph.

The next item is a Hallmark Christmas Card with concept art from Saludos Amigos.

And for the Theme Park fans, a nice Christmas Gift shopping flyer from Knott's Berry Farm. Nice spot illustration of Ghost Town on the bottom of the flyer.

World's Fair Wednesday- Brussels 1958

After not having seen much images of the pavilions at the Brussels World's Fair until this collection of slides, I am liking the fair much more. Fantastic Mid-Century architecture set in a green pastoral setting with lots of grass and trees. The first image shows the Germany (Deutschland) pavilion made out of steel and glass allowing the outside in.

Next up is a modern sculpture of a building for Phillips Radio with France, Morroco and Tunisia in the background.

Coca Cola also used modern architectures being a glass and steel beauty.

Final image appears to be more traditional for a World's Fair, Morroco in traditional architectures.

Things From the Gate- Global Van Lines Greets You At Disneyland

One of my favorite sponsors is Global Van Lines. I have strong memories of the Global Van Lines truck on Main Street and love the toy truck that Global gave away. The graphics on this brochure are a high example of mid-1960s illustration art. I do wonder if moving during this era was as carefree as this brochure makes it out to be?

A Christmas Trip to Disneyland 1964 Part VII

The finale of Jungle Cruise images and Frontierland today. First up are three commercial slides of the Jungle River Cruise. Elephant Bathing Pool.

Head Hunters. (Check out the Lion in the lower left hand corner.)

Monkey God.

Final image for today is a non-commercial slide showing the Davy Crockett canoes. It looks like there is a craps game going on between a river boat captain and the Indian guides.

Souvenir Friday-1959 Christmas Card

One of my favorite Christmas Cards is the 1959 version from Walt Disney Productions. The front features a classic Christmas fireworks display over Sleeping Beauty Castle. The inside opens to a calendar for 1960 with a dynamic Matterhorn painting.
